Rosemarie was born in Kenya and lived there until 1972 when her family immigrated to the UK. She was educated by Loreto nuns in Kenya, then at Beauchamps School in Wickford, before going to university in Aberystwyth where she gained a joint honours degree in Librarianship and Classical Studies.
She spent most of her career working with children and young people in both the public library service and School Library Service (SLS) in Essex. She is passionate about doing the best she can for children.
She was co-opted onto the Governing Body of Hilltop Infant School in 2000 and has been a governor ever since.
Rosemarie left the SLS in 2003 to join Essex Governor Services first as an officer, then progressing to Governor Services Manager, where she gained useful knowledge, experience and skills to enhance her work as a governor.
She took early retirement in 2014, but still works as an Associate Tutor for Essex Education Services delivering training to school governors.
John first became a Parent Governor at Hilltop Infant School in 1999 and his experience in governance has continued to date. He has chaired the Governing body at Hilltop Infant School for the past 6 years and additionally also another Essex school.
He has a passion to see improvement in education in our local area and brings a diverse range of experience to the trust. In September 2017, Hilltop Infant and Junior Schools joined Hearts Academy Trust and John is now chair of the joint school’s Local Advisory Board.
John has had a career in sales and training as well as a broad experience in management for major national companies in addition to his own business.
He is currently employed with a national retailer and as an independent business trainer. He is a Finance Officer for a church and lives in Wickford with his family.
After graduating with a Science degree, Ann decided to embark on a PGCE course. Having trained at Key Stage one with the Billericay SCITT, she started her teaching career at Hilltop Junior school in 2000 and has remained working at Hilltop ever since. Ann has experienced teaching all year groups at Key Stage two but is currently teaching year 5 as part of a job share. During her time at Hilltop, Ann has taken on different roles and responsibilities, including establishing the School Council. Currently, she is enjoying leading Music and Science at the juniors. Ann was a teacher governor for Hilltop Junior school before Hilltop joined the HEARTS academy trust.
Although Ann has no children of her own, she is an incredibly lucky Aunt to many nieces and nephews varying in ages from one year to over forty! She is a dog owner too and could spend many happy hours walking and enjoying the beautiful countryside.
Chris was born in Wickford, attending Wickord County infants and juniors before moving on to Beaucahmps. Having studied Marine Biology at Swansea University and then Kings College London, he started a career in science teaching. He then worked in Essex and Southend local authorities as a schools consultant and advisor. He was also a lead Ofsted inspector for a time.
Chris took early retirement and joined the governing body of Hilltop Juniors, moving onto the LAB at Hilltop infants and juniors. He also volunteers for the RSPB on the Essex marshes. His other interests include fishkeeping, gardening, cycling and travelling in the UK and worldwide.
HI my name is Christina Walter. I was first introduced to Hilltop 18yrs ago when my stepson started at the infant school in reception. I have watched both of my children thrive and grow into happy, confident young adults which I believe started with a good foundation.
I now work in the school as Forest School and Outdoor Learning leader, Lead LSA in EYFS as well as staff governor.
I feel honoured to be able to support Hilltop Schools by belonging to the LAB and enjoy working in partnership with so many people to ensure all of our pupils have a happy, safe and fun environment which will help them achieve their full potential.
Paul became a governor at Hilltop Infant School in 2011, including two years as Chair of the Resources Committee before joining the Hearts MAT. He is a former pupil of both Hilltop schools and is a parent of two children who attended Hilltop.
He has a deep-rooted belief that every child has the right to a quality education irrespective of background and ability in a safe and nurturing environment.
Paul spent a number of years working in the third sector at two leading disability charities. He passionately believes in providing children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities the resources and opportunities to fulfil their potential.
Don Wry has been working in education, as a classroom teacher and senior leader, for over 10 years across Essex and the London Borough of Newham. He has worked in both Primary and Secondary Schools in the UK and is now the joint Head of School at Hilltop Junior School in Wickford.
Don has enjoyed working across East London and Essex and has great experience working in disadvantaged areas. He has a passion for the creative arts and has led on curriculum development across multiple schools.
